More Together Creator Series

The. /FacebookApp homepage for a long time had a bland cover photo they never updated. In early 2019 we were challenged to concept a way revamp this and use this as an innovative space to set the bar for Facebook cover images.

Inspired by Facebook’s local art programs that have been around since Facebook’s infancy and the new company mission statement “Let’s find more that brings us together” we thought why not go outside the walls of FB. And so we reached out to artists internationally and launched the first in a series; a monthly art program where we bring together two artists from very different backgrounds and aesthetics to create the cover art for /FacebookApp page.

The ambition of the series to reinforce the belief that no matter our differences, two people can come together and create something beautiful.

For the first cover photo we worked with Ellen Porteus, a skilled typographer and illustrator, and photographer, Giulia McGauran to render the new brand line.

Each published cover photo was accompanied with Facebook and Instagram stories of the collaboration and a video post in the /FacebookApp page as a piece of shareable content.

Ellem Porteus displays great themes of unity in her typographic work and Guilia McGauran had a lot of dimension to her work that we were excited to use to create some depth to the Facebook cover format.

We briefed the new duo on the importance of unity, community and adding themes of the most common Groups on Facebook.
